GCSE Success 2020
GCSE results are an important measure of success, so Ditcham Park School is delighted to report that our results in 2020 showed all headline measures and statistics improved from 2018 and 2019.
As schools were closed over the summer in response to the coronavirus crisis Yr11 students across the country were not able to sit their GCSE exams. Instead their grades were based on teacher assessments. Teacher assessed grades at Ditcham Park School were based on a wide range of indicators including mock examination results, performance in tests and assessments and tracking information on each student. We are confident that the grades our students achieved are fair and valid. As a cohort their well-deserved results have built on successes in previous years, and they can celebrate the best set of results achieved at Ditcham Park School since the conception of the new 9-1 GCSE’s grade system which has enabled our students to move on to their Sixth Form or College of choice. 42% of results were 9-7 and 99% of results were 9-4. Two students, Cydney and Beth achieved an outstanding set of grades each achieving 8 grade 9s.
Headmaster, Graham Spawforth, commented: ‘’congratulations to our students and staff for their efforts in achieving these excellent results which are fully deserved. It is pleasing that our students have obtained grades which reflect their hard work and talents despite the pandemic’s impact on the exam process which has been stressful for students and teachers alike.’’
Academic results are only one measure of success. Pupils at Ditcham Park School have enjoyed wide ranging success at both regional and national level. Highlights include:
