Ditcham Park School is a unique, successful and thriving school situated in 16 acres of the beautiful South Downs National Park. The Role

We are seeking a committed, conscientious and hard working individual who is a great team player, taking pride in the impact they have in their role within the School. The successful applicant should be organised, comfortable with change and adopt a ‘can do’ attitude. This is a full-time, term-time only role.

The school has an extremely strong reputation for pastoral care and this will be a crucial focus of your work. Through care for, and support of all of the children, and by liaising closely with colleagues, learning support staff and parents, it is our expectation and experience that our pupils thrive in all areas of school life and any potential concerns can be speedily and positively resolved; the class teacher’s responsibility and proactivity in demonstrating and leading with this approach is paramount.

Responsibilities

• To provide cover for teachers in both Juniors (Key Stage 1 and 2) and Seniors (Key Stage 3 and 4).
• To provide cover for absent teachers, taking responsibility for their class and ensuring the students undertake pre-set work and/or activities.
• To manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking their work to ensure a constructive environment in support of learning.
• To supervise pupils during breaks and lunch.
• To provide in-class assistance to individual pupils or to a group of pupils, as directed by the class teacher.
• To assist in the supervision of students on school visits.
• To contribute to co-curriculum such as sport, music, drama, clubs and activities.
• To deal with immediate problems and emergencies in accordance with the School’s policies.
• To contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school through professionalism in all that they do.
• To attend and participate in regular meetings including training and other learning activities as required.
• To undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as directed by, or on behalf of, the Headmaster.

Wider School Contribution

• Attend parents’ evenings, open mornings, INSET days, school events and departmental meetings as appropriate to the role.
• Contribute to extracurricular clubs, competitions and enrichment activities.
• Support department specific extracurricular events and wider school initiatives.
