Art Curriculum

Our Art Department is a very high-achieving and vibrant part of school life, recognised nationally for its excellence. With exceptional GCSE results and multiple Independent Schools Association (ISA) National Awards, we are proud of both the creativity and the success of our students.
From Year 6 through to Year 11, pupils enjoy a rich and varied curriculum. Students in Years 6, 7 and 8 have one hour of art per week, while those in Years 9, 10 and 11 benefit from two hours. Lessons cover a wide range of disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography, sculpture, and ceramics. Our aim is always to equip and inspire students to follow their own artistic interests and discover the joy of creative expression.
Our facilities include a light and vibrant art studio, a fully equipped ceramics studio, and a dedicated gallery space where student work is proudly displayed. A highlight of the year is our annual Art Exhibition, which celebrates the achievements of every year group.
Opportunities extend well beyond the classroom. Our strong Art Development and Scholarship Programme includes weekday and weekend workshops, while many students also gain additional qualifications through the Arts Award Programme. Lunchtime and after-school clubs are always lively and well attended, offering a welcoming space for students to develop their skills further. The department also contributes to school productions by designing and creating props and scenery, ensuring art plays a central role in the wider creative life of the school.
Above all, the Art Department is a place where creativity flourishes. With inspirational teaching, excellent facilities, and a wealth of opportunities, we help every student achieve their full artistic potential and take pride in their success.
