Ditcham Park School Celebrates Outstanding GCSE Success

It was a pleasure to welcome our Year 11 pupils back to Ditcham Park School this morning to collect their GCSE results, surrounded by friends, families and staff. New Headmaster, Peter Thackrey, was on hand to congratulate pupils and celebrate their achievements.

After the initial anticipation of opening envelopes, the morning quickly became one of smiles, pride and celebration as pupils marked the culmination of three years of hard work, personal growth and involvement in the rich co-curricular life of the school.

As they leave Ditcham Park, our pupils do so with strong friendships, a love of learning and the confidence to embrace the next stage of their education. Many will continue their studies at institutions including Godalming College, Bohunt Sixth Form, Peter Symonds College, Churcher’s College, Bedales and Bishop Luffa School.

We are immensely proud of this year’s cohort and their achievements. Pupils secured an impressive 96% Grade 4+ pass rate (compared with 67% nationally), while 81% achieved Grade 5+ in combined English and Maths. Outstanding subject performances included Mathematics with 49% achieving Grades 7-9, Design & Technology with 63% achieving Grades 7-9 and Drama, where 75% achieved Grades 7-9.

Among the many individual success stories:

Lewis Hughes, who joined Ditcham Park in Year 6, achieved the highest value-added score in the cohort. Particularly delighted with his Grade 9 in English Literature and Grade 8 in English Language, Lewis will go on to study Maths, Physics and Engineering at UTC.

Sisters Rose and Isla Sanders, both of whom joined the school in Year 7, enjoyed exceptional success. Talented sportsperson and artist, Rose achieved nine GCSEs at Grades 7-9 and will study Biology, Maths and Art at Peter Symonds College. Isla achieved the highest overall grade-point average in the year group, with an average grade of 8, and will progress to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at Peter Symonds.

Reece Laurie achieved a strong set of results and will pursue his ambition through an Engineering and Plumbing course at The City of Portsmouth College.

Our Head Boy, Chris McCrohon, an accomplished musician and performer, will continue his studies at Peter Symonds College, taking A Levels in Music, Film Studies and English.
