Dragonflies Pre-School Adventures

Friday 13th January 2023

We’ve had such a lovely first week back!

We’ve been exploring some themes in space and have been listening to songs, reading stories, and chatting about lots of space-related things!

We’ve had an absolute blast!

Friday 9th December 2022

We’ve had lots of fun indoors and outdoors this week climbing, saving moths, and playing ‘What’s the time Mr. Wolf?’

We’ve also been practising for our nativity and decorating our tree.

Our motor movers activity involved using masking tape to create an assault course! Poor Claire was in the wrong place at the wrong time!!

Friday 2nd December 2022

Dragonflies have been busy outside and getting ready for Christmas!

We’ve really enjoyed practising for our nativity play and making our masks for our important parts. We’ve been digging in the muddy tuff tray and discovered dinosaurs and fossils, enjoyed a mud kitchen tea party and were lucky to watch rainbows in the sky and make wishes! We really enjoyed drama this week too! We looked at Goodies and Baddies and acted out some of our favourites including Superman, the Gruffalo and Snow White.

25th November 2022

Dragonflies have been busy exploring the woods this week.
At Dragonflies Pre-School we discovered some very big mushrooms! We talked about why we should not pick or touch the mushrooms as they may hurt our tummies. We all dressed up as vets and doctors to make sure all of our teddies were nice and healthy! We even had Emilia as a safari vet! We’ve had fun in the Pre-School garden, throwing leaves and making obstacle courses, and lastly, we have been starting to get into the spirit of Christmas by making some snowflake sun catchers, making our Christmas cards and writing our letters to Father Christmas!! To end the week we had a lovely story, read to us by Sophie!

Friday 18th November

This week Dragonflies have been busy starting on some Christmas decorations.

We’ve made some snowflake window hangings and decorated a cardboard Christmas tree with green paper for our winter wonderland display board. We also looked at Pudsey bear and Children in Need, making sure Pudsey looked extra colourful by doing some finger painting on his bandana. We’ve been nature detectives too! We’ve used the magnifying glass around the Pre-School’s garden to see what leaves and bark looked like close up. And we celebrated a birthday early! Arabella is going to be 4 on Saturday and kindly brought in some scrummy cakes for her friends!

Friday 11th November 2022

We have had a super fun week back at school and we’ve been so busy!

As it was bonfire night last weekend, we made some salad spinner fireworks with paint and sprinkles of gold glitter to put on our display board, we then learnt all about Remembrance Day and why poppies represent the soldiers. We also learnt that purple poppies represent all the animals who served in the war. We then made our own poppies by scrunching up bits of red and green tissue paper, we are going to take these to the Remembrance Service. We got some big boxes out to role play with and zoomed to the moon, went under the sea in a submarine and played hide and seek! We’ve been outside lots exploring autumn on a nature sound walk, splashing in puddles and climbing trees, we even got into a leaf battle with the Form 1s!
