DITCHAM PARK SCHOOL

Where every child is known and valued

Open Morning Saturday 2nd October 10am-1pm

Latin at Ditcham Park School

All pupils study Latin in Forms 1 & 2 (Years 7 & 8).  We take you to a world of lavish entertainment; theatre, gladiator and wild animal shows.  We discover what the Romans felt about life after death.  We imagine what it was like to be a slave in the town or the country.

We step back in time to the bustling town of Pompeii and you can see what life was like for Caecilius in his wealthy home.

In Form 2 (year 8) we learn how life in Britain changed when the Romans came.

All this would be enough excitement, but we will also teach you Latin -- the foundation for so many European languages.

Suddenly you will understand why French and Spanish are so alike: Your command of English will improve dramatically.  You will find out that words are amazing sources of information as they develop and change.  Your ability to analyse and enjoy language will surprise you.

All of these things you will find out by means of quizzes, dramatic sketches and mimes.  There is never a dull moment!
