This is a 2 year course leading to a GCSE in form 5. Business Studies gives a broad overview of how businesses are run and operate, and it covers a variety of topics such as:
· How businesses expand and fund themselves
· Marketing and research
· Financial recording and analysis
· Working with employees and the government
· Business structure, organization and control
· Methods of enhancing and developing businesses
· Taxation and financial management
The course will be of interest to those who wish to develop an acute business sense, and realise an insight into the ways businesses are run. Understanding of the subject is enhanced through constant questioning of real life situations involving companies worldwide.
The initial stages of Business Studies requires the learning of several definitions and is therefore similar to studying a new language. This is because there are several terms that pupils will have not covered in their education. However, once these are learnt, subsequent topics will become progressively easier to understand.
The subject also offers scope for developing one's Information and Communication Technology skills, especially in the coursework section. Overall, the course provides an excellent platform for those wishing to do Business Studies or related subjects at A-level.
