Open Morning Saturday 2nd October 10am-1pm Ditcham Park School has many educational, cultural, charity and sporting links with the local community and pupils are encouraged to participate in these and develop opportunities for them.
COMMUNITY LINKS School minibus is provided to transport visiting primary pupils to Art workshops. Art and drama workshops for local primary pupils during the summer term. Pupils use specialist facilities in the purpose built Art Room and Pottery and the Solent Suite. They are taught by Art and Drama Cricket pitch and indoor cricket nets used by local village cricket clubs. Summer sports camps. Open to local pupils using the facilities of our new Sports Hall, the Martin Pryce building and the extensive playing fields and grounds. Duke of Edinburgh Award students from local colleges and schools use the large, isolated site for practice expeditions as part of bronze and silver awards. Cubs, scouts, beavers and guides use the extensive grounds, ropes course and indoor sports facilities during the year. Local cyclists take part in the Ditcham Park Cycling Timed Hill Climb up the school’s steep north drive. This has now become an annual event. Netball, cross country and rounders tournaments take place regularly involving approximately 10 local schools. Five a side football tournaments take place involving local players. Harvest gifts are collected to support a local family hospice. Orchestra and choirs perform in local retirement homes, church and primary schools. Charity fund raising by D of E participants and a regular programme involving the whole school. Community service by D of E pupils giving voluntary help in charity shops, ………. Bursaries given to suitable 11+ pupil entrants from local state primary school [means tested]. Music exhibition also awarded at 11+ to suitable candidate. Easter revision courses provided in minority subject, open to students from local independent and state schools. Local organisations use the school facilities for meetings. [eg. Rotary Youth Speaks, Duke of Edinburgh district award ceremony, Librarians’’ association etc.] ICT classes for adults held in new, state of the art, ICT suite. Regular sports fixtures against local state and independent schools using the school’s facilities Work experience provided for students from local schools and colleges. Participation in local Arts events and concerts. Many staff are involved as examiners, inspectors, cluster leader and mentors for courses and examinations in a range of schools.
