DITCHAM PARK SCHOOL

Where every child is known and valued

Open Morning Saturday 2nd October 10am-1pm

The Upper Junior (Year 6) classes have an exciting and challenging year both academically and socially, with the emphasis on encouraging them discover something of themselves.

During the course of a normal week the children experience a wide range of subjects from maths to music and modern languages to ICT skills which enable every pupil to find an area which is of interest and in which they can succeed.

There is a wide variety of curriculum based trips arranged throughout the year. We start the study of the Victorians with a brainstorming visit to Portsmouth Museum which stimulates the children and gives them an insight into the period.
This is closely followed by a week long residential stay in Dorset where a broad range of activities enables friendships to be forged with the new children at the beginning of a pivotal year.

Later in the year visits are made to a number of other venues which are selected from Milestones Museum, the Natural History Museum, HMS Warrior and the Imperial War Museum, in addition to theatre groups, authors, artists and naturalists who visit the school.
We celebrate the end of our time in the Junior School by embarking on a day's orienteering.
