Coulter’s Dean Nature Reserve
We visited Coulter’s Dean as part of our studies in science and art. The nature reserve is a SSSI and lies less than a mile away from school. We walked there through the woods and met Mrs Mitchell, the Volunteer Reserve Manager. She told us all about the rare orchids and the relationships between insects, such as the Duke of Normandy butterfly, and plants, such as the cowslip. We then spent time sketching the wild flowers before strolling back to school.
