On Friday 16th October Pre-Prep enjoyed their first big adventure of the year. We set off for Birdworld by minibus bright and early, and undeterred by the chilly Autumn weather. We had a fabulous day and saw lots of amazing things. Here is our short account of the fun we had:
On arrival we visited the Jenny Wren Farm where we made friends with the turkeys (a firm favourite with all of us), cockerels, chickens, pigs, goats and Shetland ponies. We looked around the pet shop and, after deciding not to acquire a new class pet, excitedly washed our hands and…
Hurried off to watch the penguin feeding show. We learnt that not all penguins like to live in cold places; some prefer warmer areas and can even be found living on the beaches of South Africa. Their flippers and webbed feet help them to swim more quickly when they are in the water. Before long it was time to…
Catch a show at the Heron Theatre. It was excellent! We met lots of new friends including Trevor the tortoise, Monty the python, Whisper the owl, George the guinea pig and a very soft baby rabbit. We were lucky enough to stroke all these animals, helping us to look closely at how they are different and similar to us. We discovered that we have many things in common with other mammals like being warm blooded, but not much at all with reptiles and birds!
Shortly after this our adventure continued in Underwater World. Once inside we saw an amazing cat fish, piranhas, caiman, angel fish, a puffer fish, tiny sea horses… the list is endless
