A fabulous day was spent at the Sustainability Centre, supporting the scientific Habitats topic. The children completed many hands on activities to learn about a plethora of environmentally pertinent issues.
They hunted for mini-beasts in the woods, as well as pond dipping for bugs and larvae. Using mirrors they saw the world from the viewpoints of birds and floor dwelling creatures, before reinforcing their understanding of the importance of, and how to, recycle household goods.
The final task was to design and build an eco-friendly town (using recycled materials of course!) The wind turbines and solar panels, to name but a few of the detailed objects included, demonstrated that the children really had enjoyed and understood the messages taught.
