Pupils and staff at Ditcham Park School are celebrating today’s very good GCSE results. Nearly 40% of all grades achieved were the new 7/8/9 grades which are equivalent to the old A*& A grades. A quarter of the year group achieved at least 7 x 7/8/9 grades. As this is the first set of results for the new, more demanding, GCSEs our students have done really well. One of our students, Matthew Bryan, has achieved an exceptional set of results with 9 grade 9s and a top grade in Further Maths. As it is more difficult to gain a grade 9 than the old A*, educational journalists have speculated that only about 200 students in the whole country will achieve 9 or more grade 9s. This puts Matthew’s brilliant achievement in context.
Headmaster Graham Spawforth commented.“‘Congratulations to our students and staff for their efforts in achieving these very good results. Students are leaving Ditcham Park with the qualifications, skills and self-confidence to succeed in the next stage of their education at their College or Sixth Form of choice.”
This Summer 3 former pupils gained places at Oxford and Cambridge after completing their A levels. Matthew Bryan is aiming to follow in their footsteps.
