The festive season has begun at school! Last week our Senior Choir, wind band and soloists performed with poise and confidence at the Save the Children Christmas Concert hosted by Churcher’s College. There were some accomplished solos by Olivia Henderson and Benedict Ellett who sang a verse each in the beautiful version of ‘In the Bleak Mid-Winter’ by Harold Darke. This year we also showcased two of our 5th year pupils, Charlie Guimaraens on the classical guitar and James Curry singing one of his own compositions. Both played and sang exceptionally well, full of confidence and charm. Well done to all four of our soloists. I would also like to thank Luca Davidson for accompanying the choir in one of the pieces with the Head of Music of Churcher’s College, Mrs Helen Purchase, at the piano. At the end of the concert, after all four schools had performed, they joined forces to sing ‘Hark The Herald’ and ‘White Christmas’ accompanied by TPS Jazz band. Funds raised from ticket sales were in aid of the Save the Children Fund.
Large numbers of pupils and parents attended The Friends of Ditcham Park School Christmas Fayre which was a tremendous success with a magical Santa’s Grotto, attractive Christmas stalls and delicious home baked cakes and edibles. Thank you to all parents and staff who organised and worked on the Christmas Fayre.
The festive season continued with Juniors Carols in the Quad when parents and friends enjoyed carols and musical performances, accompanied by mulled wine and mince pies. Further Christmas fun was to be had at the Nativity Play performed brilliantly by all members of Reception, Pre-Prep and Prep.
The last few days of term involve discos, parties and traditional Christmas lunch, followed by the school Christmas carol service at St James’ Church, Emsworth – a very festive and fun time had by all!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
