On Wednesday 13th February, the Ditcham Park School Scuba Diving Team completed an inaugural field trip to the national dive equipment servicing centre, Obsequio Dive Services, at Fareham. The trip was part of their Advanced Diver Programme and the divers participated in a range of workshops to learn in depth marine engineering procedures to successfully identify and fix personal scuba equipment. They also learnt the importance of hydrostatic pressure testing and understanding the processes behind air compression with the industry’s best engineers.
The workshop provided divers with a high level understanding of the equipment the team use for their underwater explorative adventures and will improve their personal responsibility as they continue their marine ecology development. The students are learning the skill of scuba diving as part of their DofE programme, which is a very popular extra-curricular activity at Ditcham Park.
