Here is a ‘Behind the Scenes’ film showing the complexities of the creation of our famous “Ditcham Bike Park” video. This video has now been previewed by Global Mountain Bike Network (GMBN) and aired on their weekly show, and also seen by Global Cycling Network (GCN). Both these well-known organisations sent messages to say they enjoyed the film (and mostly wished they had been allowed to cycle round their school!).
The films were edited and produced by pupil Josh Turnbull who is narrating the Behind the Scenes film. There was a team of 6 pupils and 2 members of staff involved in making the film. In one day of filming, this team managed to produce over 8 hours of footage requiring over 20 hours of editing! Significantly, the film was made using 5 cameras including a drone, helmet- and body-cams, as well as SLRs and Go-Pros taking 2 or 3 views of each setting. You will see that the ‘film crew’ used cameras positioned on the ground as well as on moving trollies.
Well done to the film crew Josh Turnbull, Matt Bryan, Alice Payne and Ben Mitchell; to our skilled cyclists Alec O’Loughlin and Edwin Johnson; and staff Will Stretch and Anne Harris. Finally, thank you to our Headmaster Graham Spawforth for having the nerve and trust to let us undertake this risky project!
