PSHE helps to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives.
The PSHE curriculum is also designed to help them to become socially responsible adults by tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. Strong family values, kindness to others, and inclusion also form an important part of this framework.
PSHE in all Key Stages is delivered weekly during tutor time.

Citizenship has been a statutory subject in the maintained sector since September 2002, and at Ditcham Park School we feel that it is presented through the curriculum and school life generally. Its values and skills will enhance democratic life for us all, particularly in terms of people’s rights and responsibilities, beginning here in school and permeating outwards into the wider community.

For one lesson per week during the first term of Form 5, senior pupils at Ditcham Park undertake a Citizenship course. This equips pupils with the knowledge, understanding and skills to play an active part in society as informed and critical citizens who are socially and morally responsible. It aims to give them the confidence and conviction that they can act with others, have influence and make a difference in their communities. Pupils also focus on their own personal academic and career paths by considering their options for the future. This includes visits to local Colleges and talks by visiting speakers on careers options and choices.
