Welcome to Ditcham Dragonflies!
Dragonflies nursery has a kind and welcoming atmosphere, where children can be themselves, grow and flourish. Each child’s imagination, creativity and learning is fostered and supported, working with the magic and wonder of childhood.
We understand how important play is for children and that this is their way of learning, understanding, building friendships and testing boundaries in a supportive environment. Our day has a flexible routine which ensures children can explore and create, as well as having some quiet time, with the understanding that each child’s needs are different. The nursery is guided by the children’s interests and next steps along with working with parents to best facilitate each child’s learning though the 7 areas of the EYFS.
Each day has a mixture of child and adult led activities. We benefit from lessons from specialist teachers, such as Drama, PE, Music and Yoga. We are often found doing activities such as crafts and painting, singing and dancing, and cooking. We love to go outside, whether this is to play in the playground, explore the woodland, find minibeasts, or visit the Ditcham Dragon! We also like messy play, making potions and mud pies, experiencing different textures, and jumping in muddy puddles!
Our small class sizes mean that we can focus on the interests of each child, and bring this into the nursery. We talk about what is important to us, and learn ab
out each other. Over their time in nursery, the children are encouraged to have a go, and to be proud, to ask questions and be inquisitive, and to grow in independence. We are lucky to be able to work closely with Reception to make the next step into Reception class be a bit smaller.
Here at Ditcham Dragonflies we are happy to accept Government funding for 3 & 4 year olds, as well as extended funding for those families who qualify. More information about the extended funding can be found at https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/
