Current and former pupils, staff and friends of the school recently gathered together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ditcham Park School. The picture shows more than 400 members of the school community, forming a celebratory ‘40’ in the grounds of the school. Founded by Mrs Paddy Holmes, Ditcham Park School, near Petersfield opened in September 1976 with just 97 pupils and now has a very successful national profile with 360 students.
Several members of the first intake year, 1976, now well into their 50’s were at the 40th celebration weekend recently, enjoying the enjoying the fun and nostalgia of past school days, along with stilt walkers, magicians, cartoonists, zorb racing, pizza and ice cream! The guests were entertained with musical performances by past pupils and current pupils and an amazing themed cake was made by a very talented school parent. Sharing this very special milestone of the school were all four Head Teachers in the history of the school, who made speeches and toasted continued success in the future. Celebrations will continue in the weeks to come with the burying of a Time Capsule – not to be opened until 2056, 40 years hence, when the school will be again celebrating a special anniversary of a very special and unique place.
